This book succeeds at making the initial case for why business owners (and their employees) need to be active on this network. I see Plus Your Business more as a 'Why' and Guy Kawasaki's book as more of a 'How' at this point. Kawasaki's approach is not business focused though, so the door is wide open for subsequent chapters to this book.I love the tips on commenting as yourself versus commenting as your business, and the role a personal brand plays in getting the word out about a business. The portion on creating a rich 'About' page and linking your website/blog to your page are supremely important for businesses to understand.
I feel that readers could benefit from some screen shots and other examples that would bring the words to life a bit more. Overall great stuff for businesses. Get on G+!

This book is one that can benefit any business owner trying to establish their company's online presence as it isn't an exhaustive work that delves into theories and runs away on tangents, but rather is a scalpel that zeros in on specifics. Furthermore, the information in this books comes from firsthand experience as the author starts off by telling us that he knows what works, but more importantly, what doesn't work.
Described within is how Google is changing the way content shows up in their organic search, which is something any business needs to know, as the days of the yellow pages or simply having one favorite business are over, and many companies survive simply because they have a strong online footprint. Being found in Google search is one thing, but this book explains how Google Plus is making it so that a face is going to go with a business in the search results, which not only makes a company more personable but through Google Plus itself companies can get feedback and even dialogue with their patrons and customers.
However, the manner about how this is accomplished and the benefits to be reaped from using Google Plus for a business are not easily summed up in a paragraph, but if this is a topic you're interested in--which again should be the case for business owners--I would highly recommend this book as a resource.
This "book" is about 20 pages long. At the very end the author states that he "is not an expert". Well, thanks for wasting my time. If you are not an expert, don't write a book implying that you are. Telling me over and over to "engage" is great advice that I could have gotten for free. In fact, that is the exact advice I get all the time. Are there any actual answers? By the looks of it there are not.
I already understand the SEO benefits of G+ and how it can help business and how social is great. You can get that information on any stupid blog post or social media propaganda website. "Setting aside 15 minutes per day to work on your G+ business page" is not helpful for any business unless they know what to do after filling out the standard profile information and creating a bunch of amazing posts that no one will see because they have zero followers...
It states over and over to "engage" and then explains how business page engagement is impossible until someone is following. No kidding! How do you actually engage when there is no explanation about getting people to follow? But there are a few advertisements throughout telling you all the people you should follow on G+ so I guess those people have rocking profiles. At least this "book" is benefiting someone, I guess.
BTW, it took me longer to write this review than it took me to read this so-called "book". That is how annoyed I am that I just wasted .99 cents and 10 minutes of my time on this internet newsletter posing as a book. Thanks for nothing, "book".
